Basic Addition and Subtraction - Introductory Lesson for Kindergarten/First Grade done through Power Point - This lesson was originally a hard-copy of a poem called "The Cracker Snitcher."  When I put it together originally, I had to copy pages and cut clip art out of a book to "fancy" up the pages.  The poem was read orally, while students participated with their own crackers.  My lesson transformation was putting the poem into a Power Point presentation.  I found this to be more stimulating for my students since they could follow along on the big screen.  It was nice to have them guess at the algorithms for each section of the poem, and then have the algorithms "drop in" on the screen.  I color-coded the numbers in each algorithm so students could relate facts in the same families when appropriate.  Of course whether a hard copy or Power Point was used, the students ALWAYS enjoy eating the crackers at the end!
